A research paper on agricultural-waste packaging is easy to find. A named, working, priced supply chain built on the same feedstock is not, and the gap between the two is where most agri-waste ventures stall — the material science clears peer review long before a buyer can actually order it.
Bughaw Innovations closed that gap in one supply chain, in one country, the ordinary way: by going to the vendors, pricing what they already pay, and writing it down before publishing anything about the material itself.
The number a paper does not have
five primary (Supply-chain validation, Quezon City, Q2 2026) supplying coconut husk fibre for the coir composite BughawPack™ is built from, drawn from the same interview round that priced disposal at about PHP 20 per sack primary (Supply-chain validation interviews, 5 vendors, Q2 2026). Neither number is a modelled estimate; both came from asking vendors what they currently do and what it currently costs them.
That distinction matters more than it sounds. A published biodegradation rate or tensile figure tells a funder or a journalist the material works. It says nothing about whether anyone can buy it at scale next quarter. The vendor count and the disposal cost are the figures that answer the second question, and they are the figures a research paper on the material class does not carry.
What "documented" is doing in that sentence
Some of Bughaw's supplier relationships sit inside a farmer network we refer to as the Kaagapay Farmer Network — named collectively here, with individual vendor names and terms shared directly with partners during diligence rather than published on this page. What is public is the shape of the arrangement: named, interviewed, and priced, not aggregated from a national average.
A paper proves the material works. A vendor list proves someone can buy it.
What this changes for procurement, and for buyers of the underlying research
A hotel evaluating this as a supplier is not being asked to trust a material-science claim on faith; the same interview round that produced the disposal-cost figure also set about 10% over incumbent supply primary (Bughaw customer validation), which is the number a procurement team actually needs to model a switch. A funder or a journalist asking "is this real" gets the same answer from the same documentation.
